National Tourism Week Luncheon
Tickets are now on sale for the National Tourism Week Luncheon, which will be co-sponsored the year by the Fredericksburg Convention & Visitor Bureau and the Fredericksburg Area Lodging & Hospitality Assoc. The 1K walk will follow the same course but will turn around at the designated marker. Strategically placed along the race course for both pets and people will be water stations. Safety First For the safety of all participants, all pets must be on a leash and under control at all times. Aggressive dogs will be asked to leave. We also ask that you know the physical condition of your pets and remember your couch potato may not be able to go the full 5K. (You may want to try the 1K instead.) Look out for tender paws; the pavement can be hard on pooch pads. We welcome strollers and jogging strollers but ask that you start at the back of the line of participants. Family Fun This will be a family-fun atmosphere. We will have learning areas, and other fun booths. Please bring your pets! We will recognize the pets adopted from the HCSPCA, and the owners will receive a ribbon to wear. Over the past nine years we have found homes for over 1800 dogs and cats and hope to see many of these pets at the Dog Trot. Awards Awards will be given to first thru third places in Men's, Women's, and Children's divisions. We will also have an award for the first adopted HCSPCA pet to cross the finish line. After the race join us for: Pet Portraits , Pet Snack Bar , Spay/Neuter Information ,People Snack Bar Who benefits from the Dog Trot? Proceeds benefit the dogs and cats housed at the new Trudy Brune Hill Country SPCA. We are a non-profit animal shelter providing services to the Texas Hill Country. Our funding comes strictly from donations, grants and fundraising events. We are not supported by tax dollars. Our mission is to: Provide shelter, food, medical care and adoption placement for homeless animals. Protect animals from cruelty, neglect and ignorance. Encourage responsible pet ownership. Rules: Men's classes, 80# peak draw; women's and youth classes, 60# peak draw. Arrows no lighter than 5 grains per pound of draw. Bow hunter class limited to arrow speed of 260 fps with screw in field points. No range finders or indicators allowed. Binoculars are allowed. Chronograph will be available to check arrow speed at all shoots. No limit on stabilizer length in open class only; all other classes 12- inches or less. Island Assault: 1944
Experience the sites, sounds and drama of a World War II assault on an enemy bunker. Re-enactors use authentic clothing, weapons and vehicles from the Pacific War era. Programs are in an outdoor environment, so dress for the weather conditions. Educational opportunity for the entire family. Demonstrations will be presented at the Pacific Combat Zone at 10:30 a.m., 12:30PM,2:30PM and 4PM each day. The Pacific Combat Zone is located two blocks northeast of the museum complex on E. Austin Street between Elk and Lee. Fees for "Island Assault: 1944" are free with regular museum admission of $5 for adults, $3 for students, and free for children age 5 and younger. Fees without museum admission are $2 for adults and $1 for students.
