Island Assault: 1944Experience the sites, sounds and drama of a World War II assault on an enemy bunker. Re-enactors use authentic clothing, weapons and vehicles from the Pacific War era. Programs are in an outdoor environment, so dress for the weather conditions. Educational opportunity for the entire family. Demonstrations will be presented at the Pacific Combat Zone at 10:30 a.m., 12:30PM,2:30PM and 4PM each day. The Pacific Combat Zone is located two blocks northeast of the museum complex on E. Austin Street between Elk and Lee. Fees for "Island Assault: 1944" are free with regular museum admission of $5 for adults, $3 for students, and free for children age 5 and younger. Fees without museum admission are $2 for adults and $1 for students.

Shopping opportunities extraordinaire will abound in Fredericksburg on Thanksgiving weekend. Added to the roughly 150 shops, art galleries, design studios and boutiques along Main Street in this historic town in the Texas Hill Country, five additional shows and events around town (approximately 650 vendors, craftsmen and artists) will offer bountiful gift ideas for everyone on Santa’s list. Fredericksburg Trade Days, seven miles east of Fredericksburg on Highway 290, will be open on Friday, November 24, and Saturday, November 25 from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and on Sunday, November 26, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Over 350 vendors offer everything from antiques to clothing to handcrafted gifts. Parking is $3 per vehicle.Christmas at Becker Vineyards will be open from noon to 5:00 p.m. on Friday, 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Saturday and noon to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday. Some 25 artisans will offer handmade gifts, along with wine tastings, music, fireside readings, carriage rides and cooking demonstrations. Admission is free. The Peddler Show at the Gillespie County Fairgrounds will be open from 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Saturday and 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday. The show offers home décor, jewelry, clothing, seasonal treats and more from 200 vendors. Admission is $5 for adults, $3 for seniors 65 and over, and children under 12 are free.The Gifts From The Heart Craft Show, with some 25 artists and craftsmen, will be open on Friday and Saturday of Thanksgiving weekend from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at St. Joseph’s Halle, located at 212 West San Antonio Street in downtown Fredericksburg.
